Medea is a village close to the Isonzo river, a plain zone where you find also some hills. On the Medea hill there's the Ara Pacis, a war memorial.
The navigator track starts from Viscone village, to give some warm up kilometres before the rise to Ara Pacis. The freeride descent begins to the park square on the top of the hill, in front of the monument.
The track provides two round of the route:
- start, tarmac uphill to Ara Pacis;
- descent on freeride trail, left path;
- dirt road, junction to tarmac and uphill;
- deviate to right, S.Antonio church;
- staircase (in descent), path and Ara Pacis square;
- descent on freeride trail, right path;
- tarmac, return to Medea village and arrival.
The path contains all kinds of ways, tarmac and dirt, path, trail with jumps and deviates. Mainly, avoiding jumps, the path can be done also with not a freeride mountain bike.
This track is suitable for all of the seasons. It is 18 km long, a 250 m of altitude gain.
...but don't dirty the bike, poor one.
Begin of the freeride trail.
Well kept, with jumps and deviates to avoid then.
The routes described in the webpage had been travelled not in the best conditions, as you can see in the picture.
Anyway, the bottom the the track is suitable for each condition and season.
Begin of the staircase.
As in the picture above, it's better with bi-ammo bikes.
Connection path between staircase and Ara Pacis.
End part of the path.
Conclusion of the right path of freeride trail.
